Pico Duarte is the highest mountain in the Dominican Republic and it has the highest peak. Pico Duarte is named after Juan Pablo Duarte, Juan Pablo Duarte is a founding father of the Dominican Republic. The discovery of the peak has been a national symbol of pride and represents the indomitable spirit of the Dominican Republic. Pico Duarte has been a very popular destination ever since its discovery in 1851. Initially, Pico Duarte is believed to be 3,175 meters, Since technological advancements, it stands by the government at 3,087 meters. Pico Duarte is a great place for explorers to hike with its high mountain terrain and steepness. Pico Duarte is very tropical with a lot of pine forests, rivers, ferns, and meadows. Since Pico Duarte is so high, it starts to get very cold at the top and it frosts on top of the mountains nearby as well. Overall, Pico Duarte is a nice tropical mountain that has many symbols and spiritual beliefs for one of the most important people in Dominican Republic history.
